Mr. Matthes is a Central Valley native who has had a life-long interest in agriculture and business law. In an effort to combine the two, Mr. Matthes attended San Joaquin College of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) in 2016. Mr. Matthes received the 2016 Student Bar Association’s academic Scholarship Award; as well as an award for Best Oral Advocate in the 2015 George A. Hopper Moot Court Competition. Mr. Matthes worked as a law clerk during all his law school years, where he assisted in numerous litigation cases.
Before attending law school, Mr. Matthes graduated from the University of California, at Davis in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in German Literature. He next received a Master of Arts (M.A.) at U.C. Davis in German Literature, after his college graduation Chris taught German Literature, German Language and English Composition at the University of California at Davis from 2006 through 2011.
